Homemade Moisturizing Spritz
Haha well, I am just gonna say that I had soooo much fun creating my first ever spritz :D
My glycerin finally came in the post today!! But then I realised that I did not have aloe vera juice :( But obviously that didn't stop me. I made it into my own!! I also got a bottle of Wave Nouveau Moisturizing Lotion yesterday as the Luster's S Curl just doesn't do it for me in the winter it seems :(
(Ha! Picture time :D)
The reason why I wanted to try out the homemade spritz because the weather here has dipped smh. I am noticing that my broken hair strands are quite long which means my new growth ain't happy and that makes me unhappy. So, seeing as my trusty S Curl isn't cuttin' it for me this season, I decided to try the spritz. Now, all those hair experts out there might be wondering why did I continue when I realised I didn't have Aloe Vera juice. Well, I figured I'll try it out without it as I was too excited. I have waited so long to try this out lol This mystical spritz had to have started with a bunch of different ingredients before it settled with the 3 popular ingredients:
1. Rose/Distilled water
2. Vegetable Glycerin
3. Aloe Vera Juice
For those of you who don't know why these ingredients are used, please see a couple of reasons below:
- Rose water: Has natural moisturizing, nourishing and hair growth stimulating properties. Apparently, it can be used to remedy hair loss :)
- Vegetable glycerin: Its a widely know humectant which means that it has very good moisture retaining properties which is good for our hair
- Aloe Vera Juice: It is able to promote hair growth, condition our hair and prevent dandruff. These are all good things which is why I have purchased a bottle on amazon :D
The ingredients I put in mine are :
Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Rose water, Lemon Juice, Vegetable Glycerin, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Tea Tree Oil and Rosemary Oil.
I did end up adding some coconut oil as well. As far as measurements go, all I can say is I "sensed" the amounts of each ingredient haha. I made need to patent it yo! ;) I made a small batch and basically had more rose water and vegetable glycerin than the other stuff. Added a few drops of the essential oils (rosemary and tea tree). There are loads of youtube videos on it so you can check it out there. You be wondering why did I add the other oils and lemon juice to my mix. I will have a series of posts about their properties but basically, over the past 11 months, I have tried A LOT of carrier oils and these are the ones that I've found to work for me :) As for the lemon juice haha I know lemon is a good antioxidant and is good for strengthening hair and helping with issues of dandruff .So, I figured why not?
I can't wait to see how well this version of the homemade spritz moisturizes my roots :D
Till next time!
Luv, Mo xx
