Tressful Days: A Yoghurt-y Conditioner
My hair is very fine but very dense...does that make sense? (Ooo a little rhyme :D). Yeah, the strands are thin but for every 1 cm^(2) of scalp, I have a bizillion strands of thin hair. Ok, that may have been a slight exaggeration.
Anyway, one issue that I have not been able to do away with is breakage. I attempted to use my clip-in extensions as a form of protective style and it was a nice change. I absolutely loved the idea of not having to do anything major to my hair all week.
But, a couple of weeks ago I decided to have a 'Monday Wash Day' as opposed to my 'Saturday Wash Days'. This was because I was with family for Easter weekend so I couldn't spend the whole day on my hair. I was drowning in fried rice, amala & egusi soup, cow meat, chicken, do-do etc. It was a niiiiiice change I can tell you that lol.
Anyways, I lost quite a bit of hair I felt and I wanted that to change.
Last Saturday I decided to try something new:
A Homemade Organic Conditioner
You can click here for a video on how to make it.
Let's just say my initial thought was that it was a complete disaster. My hair was dripping yoghurt because the consistency wasn't as thick as I would've liked. And after an hour of that thing in my hair, I washed it out and my hair felt soo...stiff? I was expecting it to be soft and what not.
Almost in tears, I drained the excess water out of my hair using an old t-shirt and proceeded to add my leave-in, moisturiser and sealent to my hair and be done with the silly thing.
BUT
When I added my Cantu Shea Butter, Organix Coconut Milk Serum, ORS Olive Oil Moisturiser and then some Grapeseed Oil to my hair, in that order, my hair felt so soft! It wasn't frizzy and best of all, I had minimal breakage mwahahaha!
I was a happy bunny after that stressful ordeal... :D
If any of you have recipes for your successful D.I.Y conditioners and the like, please leave a link to your blog post/the recipe itself if you don't mind sharing it with me :D
Till next time!
