Behind-the-Scenes

In Manchester: Heaton Park

I am sure there are many a student that have spent the better part of the last 3-5 years in their respective universities without actually getting to know the town in which they are living. I am such a student. But before I become an official graduate I have made a promise to myself to see more of this beautiful city before I leave...if I do.

The first stop on the 'Tour of Manchester' is Heaton Park:

It is a beautiful park that is filled with flowers, trees, animals, kids, couples and bunch of other treats. There is  a lot that you can do here to keep you occupied for several hours. There's a golf course, an animal centre, an orienteering course, a chance to go rowing (if the weather is nice and the water levels are high enough) and much more. The first thing that my friends and I did when we got there was take some time to go around the park without using the map. It was so much fun! Below you will find little treats I managed to capture on my trusty camera.

ANIMALS!!!
I was like a 5 year old when we discovered this pen full of furry little things hehe.

And then I came across this man with balloons that I wanted desperately. But I thought I might be too old to have one tied around my wrist for the rest of the day.

So, I opted to have ice cream from the ice cream van parked close by. Who still runs out of their house with a pound coin clasped in their hand when the hear the jingle of an ice cream van?

Sadly, I still do...

When I was done with my yummy ice cream, I spotted this old Georgian building that made me feel like I was on the set of a period drama. It left me wondering what might have gone on behind those closed doors.

As we had been walking for quite some time we thought it best to find a patch of grass to sit on and rest our feet before the orienteering course we were about to embark on. It was on that patch of grass that I found myself surrounded by daisies.

And I thought to myself...
Why don't I attempt to make a daisy chain?

Unfortunately, my daisy-chain making skills are far too rusty. I only managed to get this far *bows head in shame*. After our break we split off into two teams and embarked on our orienteering course. I am proud to say that I was a member of the winning team but I guess it wasn't about who won or not. It was about running around the park like crazy people, working with your team, trying to find a bunch of codes whilst having fun on the way. Here are a couple of spots I found on our hunt for the codes:

This particular spot below made me feel like I was in The Vampire Diaries, waiting for Stefan to save me from all things supernatural, including Damon. Oh how my imagination amuses me.

All in all, it was a fabulous day. The weather was really nice as well and I hope it stays that way a little while longer. If you are in the Manchester area and you are looking for something to do this summer, try popping by Heaton Park. You will have a load of fun. I know I did!

Till next time!

Luv, Mo xx
