The Life of An "Adult" Is Not All It's Cracked Up To Be
Ok... so, I have been M.I.A recently because one main thing really:
I realised that I am no longer a student.
You may think that this fact would be pretty obvious to me because I graduated almost a month ago now but sadly it wasn't. It didn't really hit me until I left my house at 8.30 am on Wednesday morning last week to make my way back to Manchester because I got offered a summer graduate internship. Now, making money is kinda important if you want to get by in life so taking the internship was a no brainer. What I did not realise was the massive consequence that comes with working as a graduate-
there's zero student discounts when it comes to paying bills!
Please, don't get me wrong, I am entirely grateful for this opportunity but I the whole dream of living on my own in my swanky new apartment, learning how to make quiche on a Thursday night after work, quickly got a reality check after seeing the going rates for apartments. For those of you living in London I take my imaginary hat off to you.
I have now finished week 1 of the internship and I tell ya, I needed some pampering. It was brutal getting up at 5.30 am to get to work for 8.00 am as it has been aaaaages since I had early starts. Anyways, seeing as I can't just hop off to spa for the day just yet I decided to unwind by creating my own spa yesterday...in my mate's flat that I'm currently staying in- gotta save those pennies guys!
Being the hair fanatic that I am, having a spa day would be nothing without taking care of my hair which had been neglected for 2 weeks:
Started off by washing my hair with Herbal Essence's Hello hydration shampoo and conditoner- the conditioner is amazing as it really softens and moistures my hair. My hair needed some serious revitalisation so I used my Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor deep conditioner which smells weirdly good. Then I finished off with deep conditioning my hair further with Organix's Macadamia Oil conditioner. I tell ya, Organix really have their formulas doown. The conditioner smells so good and totally made me feel relaxed. Once my hair was conditioned and rinsed I sealed in all that moisture with extra virgin olive oil.
Nothing but the best for my hair :D
With my hair cooking away under a shower cap I pampered myself further using the body products below:
A friend of mine, Asima, gave them to me as a parting gift so I decided to give 'em a test run and boy did they pass with flying colours. I was at peace. The aromas from the various products I had used blended so well it was actually soothing. What I liked about the lotion was that its consistency wasn't thick at all; my skin ate it up in seconds.
When it comes to my face, my skin ain't the best. So, I try to keep things simple:
I guess I keep it a bit too Simple? Ooo see what I did there? ;)
I was gonna meet up with a friend later in the day so I decided to slap on a bit of make-up to cover up those blemishes *sigh*
If I had to do a 3 minute make-up challenge I am pretty sure I'd ace it. I do the bare minimum. For those of you that may want to know, I use M.A.C studio fix in the shade-NW58 (I am daaark! LOL) and the blush is called Raizin.
After all that was done, I decided to take care of my nails:
I decided to paint my finger nails white to see how they'd look on me as I saw Leomie Anderson do it and it looked really nice. I think I had a case of the-shaky-hand-moment whilst doing it as it looked awful. I tried to reach for the bronze one instead but could not find it. And I still can't. I guess that's the beauty of pictures, it captures moments of time to last a lifetime.
planned out the next couple of days, read the latest Company magazine and started a new book for my Read It or Not series.
Till next time!
Luv, Mo xx
