Hair: Being Imprisoned Can Be A Good Thing
I know. I know. It feels like a decade since I have properly discussed anything remotely to do with hair at length but that is all going to change (she says). With my time away from updating my blogs I had an epiphany along the way that made me reaslise why I started both of them in the first place. Hopefully, I will not need to explain that to you, you will just be able to understand it yourself.
Back to the topic at hand...
I think I was amazed at the two cameras my phone had. Still didn't help me take a decent photo did it? |
I made a promise to myself that I was going to learn how to take care of my hair and not rely on braids or weaves out of laziness. I used to have braids and weaves installed (is this the right terminology? lol) not because I wanted to protect my hair but because I did not like my hair. I wanted it longer. Flowy-er. More manageable. Less like what I had. I did not know then that my hair is beautiful and that it can be all of those things if I just took better care of it. I just did not know how.
My lovely sister took this awesome photo of me |
Now, I have had braids installed for first time in about two years for more healthier reasons. I had them done on the 27th of October and plan to have them in until late December/ early January. My hair is being "imprisoned" due to a change in the seasons. The rate at which my hair tends to break during the Autumn/Winter months is a lot higher than the rest of the year which I am sure happens to a lot of you out there. My hair needs more moisture and extra tlc to make it through. It then also becomes the period I struggle to retain length. So, this year I have decided to bring in reinforcements.
With the braids in, it does not mean that I won't be washing, conditioning and moisturising my hair (and scalp!!). Those things will still be going down every week. However, my ends won't be as exposed as it would have been if I did not have the braids in. Also, I can leave my hair down and wear hats and not feel all too guilty. It is a very good protective style. I wake up in the morning and I do not have to spend more than a minute on styling my hair.
Like I said, sometimes being imprisoned can be a good thing...
Till next time!
Luv, Mo xx
P.S. Sorry about the bad quality photos. Although I am not professional photographer, I do want to try my hand at taking better photos. It will improve soon...I hope. For those of you that are are newbie photographers as well but have been blessed with a DSLR, I came across a brilliant post by Carrie from WishWishWish that may be of use to you. If I can understand it I am sure you can :)
