Behind-the-Scenes

ME, MYSELF & MAGAZINES

I do this thing where I walk into a shop that sells magazines, eye up their stock and only reach up to grab one whose cover or freebie interests me. I am sure this is what normal people who read magazines regularly do. However, I am not one of these so-called normal people.  'Why don't you think you are one of the normal people who read magazines regularly?' you may be asking yourself. And that is a very good question indeed. The reason why I cannot be considered to be one of these normal people who buy magazines is because I have no intention of actually reading the magazine...

Although I am not tied to any specific magazine, from what I have discovered I do tend to reach for Glamour, Company and Marie Claire when the mood strikes. I smile with enthusiasm when the freebie that accompanies the magazine proves its worth to me and shrug my shoulders when it does not. I don't pick up just any ol' issue though. I must admire some aspect of the person on the cover in some way and also find the picture inspiring. I feel this is weird. Is this weird? I dunno. I just feel a tad silly buying the magazine and then not end up reading it.

Maybe I should just stop...

But I do not think I can be blamed for snatching a copy of the Vanity Fair pictured above though. Look at that cover! It does not have beauty product samples attached to it but it does look as though it contains a very interesting set of articles waiting to be read. Although I do love a good freebie - Who doesn't? It was how I discovered L'Occitane last year which is a great thing in my books. Their products are so good! And my mascara is running on empty which is why when I saw the latest Glamour issue I couldn't help myself. If anything, I was being pragmatic... Right?

What "illogical" habits have you got?
