IN MANCHESTER: WAHU EXPRESS FOOD BAR
For the past few weeks I have been eating out more than usual. Now, I do not know about you but I normally feel a little guilty afterwards especially when I've got my healthy-eating-craze hat on. I never used to believe in ordering a salad or something remotely healthy when I'm at a restaurant because I equated eating out with treating yourself to a meal you won't normally cook at home. So imagine my surprise when my friends, Fiona & Saba, and I stumbled upon this little gem in Spinningfields the other week as we were exploring Manchester and their menu consisted of purely healthy options that actually sounded very tasty.

We had never heard of Wahu before but as we walked past it and their funky and colourful decor caught our eye, we couldn't help but take a look at their menu that promised their "healthy, fresh and satisfying meals will keep you going through the day". After going inside, creating our lunch boxes, placing our orders and watching them cook our protein choices, we grabbed ourselves a table outside and continued to natter away in the sun until the food was served. We did not have to wait long before our lunch boxes were presented before us. And at the sight of our meals, our tummies grumbled with delight.
Fiona's lunch box consisted of wholewheat pasta with, lamb, tomatoes, sweetcorn and mixed peppers with the mustard vinaigrette dressing and I was told it tasted delicious. She also decided to get the carrot, mango and parsnip fruit & veg juice which I found to be quite refreshing.
Saba's lunch box had white rice, salmon, broccoli and peas with light soy sauce as her dressing which she enjoyed quite a bit.
And I decided to get a beef wholemeal wrap with sweetcorn, mixed peppers & lettuce and chose sweet chilli as my dressing. It was soooo yummy and filling and healthy I had zero guilt after I polished it off. And the fruit & veg juice I chose was so delicious and cleansing I felt right as rain after a huge gulp of it.

If you are in the area and looking for something to eat - be it breakfast, lunch or dinner - at a place that serves yummy and healthy dishes that then I suggest you give Wahu a try. They are located off Deansgate Road at The Avenue (M3 3AP). There are loads of other restaurants in that area as well for you to check out as well as a few shops for you to browse if you chose to. And the John Rylands library is not too far from there as well if you wanted to have a look see.
