MOVIE MONDAYS: THE WOLVERINE
Have no fear guys, I watched this several weeks ago with my sister (check out her blog here). I just have not gotten round to publishing this post :(
Whether I like it or not I will get my life sorted out and get back to my regular routine as the days just seem to fly by now. I mean it is September already. How did that happen?! People are getting ready for their 1st day of school, freshers week or their last year of university etc and I am getting to grips with the fact that my student card runs out in a few days *sob fest* Anyways, back to the movie:
I don't know about you guys but I really enjoyed this movie. I was a tad bit confused at the start of the movie because I was not sure what part of Logan's life we were being shown- past, present, future, alternative reality...if you have watched it maybe you will know what I mean. But I think my confusion was more due to the fact that I cannot really remember the last 4 X-Men movies. I am not even sure if I watched X-Men Origins lol. I really wish I was into comics when I was a child. But anyways, I got to grips with the storyline shortly after the 1st 5 mins so all is right in the world.
I have heard many reviews about this film. Some good and some not so good (Seriously, who doesn't like a Hugh Jackman movie??). All I know is, I am glad I went with my sister because I would have missed out on quite a key piece of the film:
DO NOT WALK OUT ON A MARVEL MOVIE WHEN YOU SEE THE CREDITS ROLL UP. WAIT UNTIL THE VERY END... YOU MAY BE SURPRISED.
Sorry for shouting. I'm not actually shouting I just wanted you to at least take that bit of information away as I am noticing that I rambling quite a bit.
The film 'The Wolverine' is about how Logan reconnects with an old friend and tries to honour a promise he made to said friend. Speaking of friends, Logan makes a few interesting friends. The one that is my absolute favourite is Yukio who was played by Rila Fukushima. Yukio is just plain amazing. She is kind, caring, tolerant, stubborn and can totally kick ass! Who doesn't want a friend like that? But as much as I like Logan what I would really like is to hear more about Storm. She was my favourite X-Men member. I remember trying to pluck up the courage to ask my mum to dye my hair white. Ha-ha. Yeah, that did not happen. Now, I would not mind dyeing it Yukio red or at least getting my hands on a Yukio red wig :D
More Info: It was directed by James Mangold (Knight And Day; Walk The Line; Girl, Interrupted) and the screenplay was written by Mark Bomback (Die Hard 4.0; Unstoppable; Total Recall) and Scott Frank(Marley & Me; Minority Report; The Interpreter).
As always, if you have not seen this movie I say give it a go. What is the worst that can happen? You get to watch a pretty good action movie (keep an eye out for the fight sequence on a bullet train). You get to see the results of all Hugh Jackman's fitness workouts. You get to laugh, tear up (Only a teeny bit or not at all. I promise) and be surprised. You get to be annoyed with characters like Mariko. That girl... *shakes head*. And you also get to escape from your day for a bit with a bowl of popcorn in hand.
Go for it ;-)
Till next time!
Luv, Mo
