CELEBRATING A LIFE IN BUDAPEST
Did you know Budapest is made up of two districts - Buda and Pest - which are separated by The Danube river?
The siblings and I are learning all kinds of new things about Hungary’s capital and can scarcely believe we are already heading back to the UK today even though we have been here for 5 ever-so-relaxing days already. But what prompted this 1st trip of 2019 I don’t hear you ask? Well, after our successful summer vacation in Morocco last year, Karina decided she wanted to celebrate her birthday somewhere in Europe before the Brexit madness officially begins.
So, after much deliberation, this lush city, rich in so much culture and inspiration came out on top and Suji and I had absolutely no reason to object.
Everyone we knew who had been to Budapest before had only good things to say about it and we can definitely see why. The people are friendly, there is so much to see, the food is delicious and the transport system is easy to crack. If you are not built for the cold, I wouldn’t suggest January be the month you pop in but if you do, then you have a very good reason to swing by the many thermal baths scattered around the city.
For K’s birthday we took our time exploring most of Pest. And as the hours rolled by and the number of enticing cultural buildings crept up, the beauty of the Budapest Card began to dawn on us; however, we did not allow its absence from our lives stop us from having a great time. We ate, we drank and we laughed. A lot. What more could we want?
