Behind-the-Scenes

MY LITTLE OBSESSION...

I will not be able to say I'm a beauty guru in this lifetime I don't think. Especially one that is conversant with the world of makeup. It is just something that never really appealed to me when I hit my teens so I haven't had the years of experimentation under my belt. Having said that I do remember the first foundation I ever bought was when I was 15. It was a mousse-y one by Maybelline whose darkest shade turned me bright orange...yeah, I was not about that life.  The pictures do exist but I don't think our relationship has gotten to the level where I can just candidly share those photos on here. One day... maybe lol.

It wasn't until, at the ripe age of 17, I just had to admit that squinting was no longer masking the imperfections on my face and I needed additional help. Since then I have only ever owned 5 foundations- 3 of which were bought in the last year; one blusher; 2 eyeshadow palettes- one of which my dad got me for Christmas one year; and 3 mascaras- one a birthday gift and the others I purchased. Up until last December I never really felt the need to have make up brushes because each thing came with its own applicator. I did buy the Eco Tools set a few years ago though because I didn't have anything to apply the blusher to my face and I figured the other brushes were an added bonus as the set was less than a tenner (£10). But now, I am the proud owner of all the brushes you see in these pictures. It may not seem a lot to you guys but to me this is loads.

So, you may be wondering why I have this sudden interest in brushes of all things seeing as my interest in the art of make-up hasn't quite picked up. And the honest answer is I just like how they look and feel. It is as simple as that. I do follow quite a number of beauty blogs so they could have played a big part in my new obsession as well. And the funny thing is I don't even use half of them. I have only used two brushes out of the Real Techniques Core Collection whilst the rest are still in their cases haha. The things I do sometimes baffle me. Honestly, they do. But hey ho, I don't regret getting them at all. The set I've had my eye on for quite sometime though is the complete MAC makeup brush collection... A girl can dream right?

What are you obsessing over at the moment?
