MOVIE MONDAYS: GRAVITY

I think this movie made me so sure that I do not ever want to be an astronaut...

I was wandering what to watch Friday night at the cinema and decided to see Gravity because I think Sandra Bullock (The Lake HouseThe ProposalThe Blind Side)is amazing. This movie is proof of her capability to bring a character, in this case Ryan Stone, to life and suck you into their world.

Gravity is a story about the misfortune of a highly successful medical engineer, Ryan Stone, during her first trip into outer space. She is joined by a small team of NASA employees including the highly capable astronaut, Matt Kowalski, who was played by George Clooney (The DescendantsThe Ides of MarchUp In the Air) to help carry out her experiment.

Now, if you have watched the trailer you will have been given an insight to what happens but there is sooo much more in store for those who watch the movie (obviously lol). Having watched this movie I do not think a place devoid of gravity is the bees knees at all. Working and/or drifting in space now seems odd and terrifying to me haha. It felt like I was right there with them and I did not like it. Although the view of earth was spectacular, the series of events that take place in space made me feel like I was on an emotional  roller coaster. Sandra Bullock's character acted like a typical person would react in such circumstances and I think that is what made it feel like I was watching this happen live. I doubt I would be able to watch this in 3D but I am sure it would be epic.

It was directed by Alfonso Cuarón (A Little PrincessHarry Potter And The Prisoner Of AzkabanChildren Of Men) and written by Alfonso Cuaron and his son Jonas Cuarón. In my ever so humble opinion I think they did a brilliant job. As you all know I do not claim to be a true film critic. I know nothing about the technical side of things but I can appreciate the finished work. And boy do I appreciate this. I initially felt a little disappointed at the end as I wanted more but I now think that it is perfect as it is.

There is so much more that I want to say but I fear I will give away some of the magic that this movie has so I am keeping this post sort and sweet. I know I am a bit late to the party with this but to those that have not seen it and are looking for something to see, this movie ain't bad at all!

Till next time!

Luv, Mo

xx

P.S. What tickled me a bit is how ridiculously small the cast is. But then it would be wouldn't it? It's not like space is cluttered with people... aliens excluded ;-).

P.P.S. Can we also take a few moments to admire Sandra Bullock's physique in this movie? She is absolutely gorgeous!! It is as though the woman does not age. Seeing her in this has definitely motivated me to attempt to keep in shape that's for sure lol.
