ON THE EDGE: FILM || VOL. 8

For those who aren't in the know, the On the Edge series brings to your attention the things that have me on the edge of my seat in anticipation. Granted I do not get to see all of the films I list when I want to, I do like keeping track of the movies that I do want to watch eventually. Let's see what September brings our way...

EVEREST

This poster alone makes me feel like this is going to be a roller coaster of a film filled with determination, pain, loss and ultimately drama. And that drop is giving me all kinds of "I am gonna die from this fall from a great height" feels that I think I may need a bucket close by when I watch the film in case I want to throw up. Me and heights are not close friends... As you can see from the poster, Everest is based on a true story which makes me want to see it all the more. It will be released on 18th Sep and the trailer can be viewed here.

LEGEND

This poster is giving me an "adventure riddled with suspense, drama, action, good suits and possibly fast cars" kind of vibe. And the fact that Legend is based on a true story, again, moves this film a little higher up the ever growing watch list of mine. Starring Emily Browning (Pompeii), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road), Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) and many more, this film is set to be released today (9th Sept) and you can watch the trailer here.

MAZE RUNNER: THE SCORCH TRIALS

I will hands down watch any project involving Dylan O'Brien (The First Time). He is... just.. well, let's just say he is Dylan O'Brien and leave it at that lest I embarrass myself on here. Ahem. Where were we? Ah yes! Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials  is the highly anticipated (by me, at the very least) sequel to the quite successful film adaptation of James Dashner's novel Maze Runner which I saw on my birthday last year. Good times. Think: dystopian world with metaphorical and literal mazes that keep its inhabitants... occupied. Interesting right? It will be released tomorrow (10th Sep) and you can have a look at the trailer here.

ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL

Me Earl And The Dying Girl has won multiple awards and the bit of the trailer I managed to see has won me over. Going by the title of this film I'm guessing this is about a guy, his mate Earl, a girl whose time on earth is running out a little quicker than expected, friendship, dealing with death and appreciating the time we do have on earth. And that sounds like all good things to me. It is already out in cinemas (was released on 4th Sep) so try and catch it while you still can. If you need more convincing, you can watch the trailer

MISS YOU ALREADY

Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette. In the same film. Enough said. Miss You Already is out on 25th Sep and I cannot wait to watch it. You can watch the trailer if you like.

September does seem to be abundant with good films to be seen at the cinema with a bag of popcorn (salted, always salted) close by and with good company if you wish. I am no stranger to waltzing to the cinema all by my lonesome. It is actually quite nice. Try it some time. I do also want to give some honourable mentions as they do seem quite interesting: A Walk In the Woods (18th Sep), Aloha (18th Sep)  and Irrational Man (11th Sep). Let's see which films I will actually see this month haha. Happy Wednesday everyone!
