Wash Day: The Effects of a Cold Rinse
[source of pic] |
Now, I can say confidently that yesterday was a very successful wash day :) I totally saw the benefits of rinsing the conditioner out of my hair with cold water. I never used to do it before because my scalp is just waay to sensitive to it even after a couple of minutes under cold water. But, yesterday I decided to just grin and bear it and see what happens.
- Detangled hair in small sections using coconut oil and then braided detangled sections.
- Clarified hair using ORS' Uplifting Shampoo twice- hair did not feel stripped for me; might be different for you depending on amount of product build up or if you pre-poo'd etc.
- Pre-conditioned my hair with Roux Porosity Control for 30 secs and then rinsed with warm water.
- Loosened sections of hair and made 4 big sections.
- Conditioned each section with Herbal Essences' Hello Hydration conditioner for 30 mins and then rinsed with cold water.
- T-shirt dried my hair- aim of today was tame the frizz and towels only aggravates the hair
- Applied my ApHogee Pro-Vitamin leave-in conditioner to whole head.
- Allowed to air dry for about 20 mins.
- Coated the length of my hair with a small amount of coconut oil.
- Made 4 big sections again.
- Within each quadrant I detangled my hair, with my fingers and a comb, using coconut oil and coated the length of my hair with Organix's Coconut milk.
- Made smaller sections within each quadrant and twisted them out of the way.
And voila! My hair was successfully washed and detangled and I did not lose that much hair. My hair was also not frizzy which was my main aim of the day as I have still not relaxed my hair. I am struggling to decide if I should transition and go natural, as I am now learning to handle the two textures pretty well, or just relax it...decisions, decisions lol. We'll see. This year is the year of change for me in all aspects of my life. I am even changing up my hair styles these days. No more simple buns. There are loads more protective styles that I want to try my hand at. Will try and take pictures but that requires skill if you have no one to help you take pictures lool.
Till next time!
Luv, Mo xx
